Four years ago, the city of Mitakihara was struck by a mysterious disaster that reduced a large part of the city to rubble and turned the once prosperous megalopolis into a cesspool of the uncanny and the unscrupulous. While criminal syndicates and street gangs struggle for power in the city’s impoverished districts, the army patrols the streets with an ever increasing presence.
Yet Mitakihara’s true heroes fight their battles in the shadows. Blessed with unearthly powers by a mysterious being named Kyubey, the Puella Magi put their lives on the line to protect the city from the dangers of witches — vile, unfathomable creatures who leave naught but horror in their wake.
This is not their story. Not yet. But it might be.
Mitakihara Original is a collaborative writing project inspired by the role-playing that used to be all over chatboxes, forums, and later, social media, but with an ambitious, arc-driven plot. Using original characters, the story is loosely set in the world of the anime franchise Puella Magi Madoka Magica — though no knowledge of the source material is required — and focuses on the trials and tribulations of teenagers in a world of magic and mystery.
